چکیده
Background The laparoscopic totally extraperitoneal inguinal hernia repair (TEP), unlike the Lichtenstein tension-free mesh repair, allows for inspecting femoral canal area presence of an occult hernia. Objectives To determine incidence unsuspected in patients undergoing TEP repair. Material and methods Data was collected prospectively from 180 (23 women) who underwent including examination canal, between November 2017 March 2019, a determined. Correlations sex, age type diagnosed (indirect, direct, both indirect direct) were assessed. Results Femoral hernias found 14 (7.77%). None had previously been detected clinically. higher women (6/23, 26.07%) than men (8/157, 5.09%). older patients: average with 57.86 years (median: 60 years), whereas without 49.92 49 years). However, correlation not statistically significant. No (direct, indirect, direct). Conclusions detecting repairing

Ipsilateral occult hernias during endoscopic groin hernia repair
Endoscopic repair of groin hernias allows the surgeon to have a complete view of the groin and pelvis to diagnose occult hernias both ipsilaterally and contralaterally. These occult hernias can then be treated simultaneously and may reduce the incidence of recurrence and persistent symptoms. The authors present four unusual cases where occult hernias were found ipsilaterally during an endoscopi...
متن کاملInguinal hernias: should we repair?
This review examines available data concerning the natural history of treated and untreated inguinal hernias. The incidence of complications with either treatment strategy is discussed using historical information from a time before herniorrhaphy became routine and contemporary data from two recently completed randomized controlled trials comparing routine repair using a tension-free technique ...

OBJECTIVES We report our experience with posterior preperitoneal prosthetic herniorrhaphy for inguinal hernia in patients undergoing concomitant pelvic surgery for both benign and malignant urological pathologies. METHODS 116 patients with either unilateral or bilateral inguinal hernia underwent posterior preperitoneal prosthetic herniorrhaphy during a pelvic operation for various urological ...
متن کاملModified patch repair of femoral hernia after inguinal herniorrhaphy.
BACKGROUND AND AIM It has been reported that femoral hernias are rather common after a previous repair of inguinal hernia. We herein present a modified patch repair technique for large femoral hernias that develop after a Lichtenstein operation for ipsilateral inguinal hernia. PATIENTS AND METHODS The modified technique for femoral hernia was applied to three patients who had a Lichtenstein r...
متن کاملFemoral Nerve Paralysis Following Open Inguinal Hernia Repair
Open inguinal hernia repair remains the gold standard to treat inguinal hernias and is associated with a low recurrence and complication rate [1,2,3,4]. The majority of inguinal hernia repairs are completed on an outpatient basis. Local, spinal, epidural, and general endotracheal anesthesia are used depending on patient comorbidities and surgeon preference. Overall, patient recovery is relative...
